This can’t be a Jane Austen and Bronte blog with naming only Jane Austen perfumes, lotions, and soaps without finding them for the Bronte’s.
While finding the smells of Austen was pretty easy, the Bronte’s were a bit more difficult. You can find more scents by going here and here.

I am a big fan of perfumes, scented oils, candles, and anything else that smells good and has some kind of theme or idea attached to it. It should be no surprise, then, to discover there are quite a few perfumes, soaps, and oils that can help you feel like you’re a part of Austen’s world whether drawing from the Regency era or inspired by.

I am a big fan of candles. When Mr. Lisa and I finally settled in our new digs,I found, scattered across several boxes, nearly a dozen candles, most half-burned. Oops. (I seem to favor vanilla and musky scents like sandalwood.) If you also need to have candles in your home, Tea & Thistle has got you covered. They seem to specialize in literature inspired candles, I wanted to showcase Heathcliff because well, brooding anti-hero! I do disagree with her scent choice: the sea, cardamon, and lavender. Lavender is used mainly for relaxation and cardamon is spicy — but our Heathcliff is not spicy! He’s musky and brooding — he should smell like the moors, all dark and mysterious.
Am I or am I not a good cook? Well I can bake and I let Mr. Lisa do all the main cooking since he seems to have a flair for it. While I cannot see him wearing this apron, I would — a girl has to keep herself clean from flour and other ingredients! The apron is sold by the French Apron Company who have other delightful aprons available including this one, “You had me at Darcy.” Note: The item does ship from France.
Living in the land of bourbon, not including something bourbon inspired would have felt unholy — even though, personally, I detest the stuff.
This beautiful tumbler, by theUncommonGreen, can either be used for drinking or for a conversation piece. The shop has a plethora of other literature and fun inspired glasses. Note the price is for one glass, not a set.
I have seen these but never exactly what they were! A rock cairn is, “A mound of stones erected as a landmark or memorial….Cairns can be given for Encouragement, Energy, Hope, Inspiration, Motivation and Support!”
So there you have it.
The cairns come in a variety of sizes and this one has the de rigeur quote, “I love you most ardently” so it would be totally appropriate to give to someone who is not only into zen but also a Jane Austen fan. You can also get cairns personalized with other quotes if you so wish.
What’s strange, to me, is I did not set out one day and say, “OH! I need to collect t-shirts!” No, it became evident when I was clearing out my closet one day and counted how many t-shirts I owned.

I’m always on the look out for new t-shirts. I buy them to commemorate a trip as they are cheaper than most swag, barely noticeable in packing, and wearable. I celebrate concerts and fandoms. I support local businesses. I like vintage ones as well.
I just plain like t-shirts.
My collection is down to about 100 shirts, but I’m always on the look out for new ones (I keep my eye on dayoftheshirt.com which collates the best deals for the day) and one of my favorite themes is literature. Book covers, author’s quotes, interesting approaches to the work. I’m a big book nerd and I let my nerd flag fly.

It’s rare, I believe, to find products and gifts that celebrate the other works of our Jane. It seems as if every vendor on the planet is all Pride and Prejudice all the time but we shant forget Jane’s other five works so when I saw this t-shirt pop up in my list, I knew I had to add it.
The shirt is done by TeePublic and affixes the semi-famous Northanger Abbey quote, “If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.”
The shirt comes in male (unisex) and female cuts, a wide variety of styles, sizes, and colors. While I adore the shirts I get from TeePublic, they do tend to shrink a bit in the wash (even in cold water) and the length always seems to be one inch to short than I need so definitely size up!
Just like Northanger Abbey shirt, finding a non Pride and Prejudice shirt can be a pain so that’s why when I stumbled across this Emma shirt available at the Jane Austen Centre, I knew it had to be included in this list. The shirt, which is available in unisex sizes S – XL, has the Emma facsimile as its design. the Jane Austen Centre is located in England so be mindful the prices are in pound sterling and does not reflect cost of shipping to the U.S. I may have to buy this shirt after this post is published. Nothing says delightful than a shirt with all of Jane’s men listed. The shirt, available in women’s and unisex sizing, is available at this lovely Jane Austen centric Etsy shop, Brookish. Also check out the store’s other goods such as scarves, mugs, and other assortments.
My grand plan, if you will, is to push Jane out into the world via pop culture. While yes, media reviews, notices of upcoming events, notes of newsworthy information will still reign on the blog, I am more curious about the huge wealth of Jane-related stuff that does not follow the aforementioned. I remain vigilant that if a Pride & Prejudice and Doctor Who fan fiction mashup exists, anything is possible.
This is why a listicles feature will appear on a semi-weekly basis and they will be on anything from coloring books to toothpaste.

Isn’t this the perfect accouterment for the holidays, an afternoon tea, or even just for a lovely snack? I mark this as “weird” for the simple reason biting Jane’s head off seems a bit cannabilistic, but hey, if you’re a tried and true Janeite, this may be perfect for your collection.

Straight Outta Pemberley Right, it’s a t-shirt, why is this weird? Straight Outta Compton is the 1988 debut album (and song) by rap legends N.W.A. Doing a mashup of N.W.A. and Jane is hilarious. (And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, just read the wiki articles I linked and soon you’ll get the joke or be appalled.)

Jane Austen Toothpaste
Yes, you read that correctly: Jane. Austen. Toothpaste. When I mentioned this to a pal at our last JASNA meeting, she looked at me incredulously as if how could such a thing happen. The answer: Apparently very easy. But I suppose if you’re fond of dancing, having fresh breath would be helpful.
Another Amazon find, the toothpaste is $7 USD and is available for free shipping for Prime Members. (The toothpaste allegedly tastes of “rose” which I’m not a fond of so if you bought it and used it, let me know in the comments!)
Emma Matches The item is billed for use at weddings, I suppose to be used in gift baskets for wedding members or as a token on the dinner tables. But still. Matches?
